On 3rd and 4th June 2020, the Malawi Congress of Trade Unions (MCTU) organized a two days  leadership workshop on advocacy and negotiations for the following sector union who are affiliated to it that organises and recruits workers in the informal economy such as Malawi Union for Informal Sector (MUFIS), Commercial Industrial and Allied Workers Union (CIAWU) and Building Construction and Civil Engineering Workers Union (BCCEWU) at Mponda Teacher Development Centre in Zomba – Malawi. The workshop aims at imparting skills and competences on the following topics:

  1. Occupational Safety and health in workplace,
  2. Advocacy and lobbying,
  3. International Conventions 189, 190 and Recommendation 204,
  4. Strategies for advocacy and lobbying, negotiations/social dialogue and social dialogue models.

The participants were given a group work on advocacy and lobbying and also on social dialogue as part of development of their action points and self-assessment (evaluation).
